I was at a New York gift show when I saw a beautiful bronze gong being sold by Woodstock Chimes.  I thought it would be a great interesting piece to use in a sculpture.

I went back to my favorite Googie style for inspiration.  Bea Gong features the typical rounded corners and triangular shapes of this retro style.  It is also named after my daughter and has a bumble bee laser cut into it.

The Woodstock Chime's gong featured in this sculpture is called General Chow’s Gong.  I bought the last of their supply (all 8 of them) at the ACC Baltimore show and I have just used the last one!  This piece will now be retired.
